You certainly beat my 15 miles with like 25 feet of elevation hange. Plus, we stopped for pancakes at the turnaround.
That Garmin fitness meter/GPS looks pretty cool!
It wasn’t what I originally intended – I was trying to meet Heather on the course for her 22 mile training walk, and she was further along than I’d thought she’d be, so I had to do this awful climb up to the St. John’s bridge and after I’d caught up with her, I just decided to finish the course and ride back home. It was easier than I thought, so I’m happy about that, and I don’t hurt too bad today, so that’s good too (especially since I’ve got a concert this afternoon). Pancakes!!?? I knew I forgot to do something on that ride! All I got was a bagel when I got home…
I have this really evil 25 mile route with about 300 feet of elevation change that has these really encouraging signs along the way like “Hill Blocks View” or “Steep Grade Ahead: Trucks Use Low Gear”. Yeah.
Did the concert go well?
The concert went better than it had any right to! It was actually pretty fun – we did the Haydn without any rehearsal since we’d done it last year and just played it twice at Sunriver for some outreach activities. Some nice stuff happened, which is always good! The Debussy, I’ve decided, is a piece that I will never enjoy playing – not for lack of “good parts”, but I’m always preoccupied with stuff while playing it and can’t enjoy the sights along the way, so to speak, like I can with other pieces. And this was the 4th time I’ve played it, so it should get easier, I would hope… The Brahms was good fun – can’t wait to repeat it here in Portland in January.
