If you have the occasion to visit Bend, central Oregon’s largest city, take in a show or concert at the lovingly restored Tower Theater in the heart of downtown. The Sunriver Music Festival will be presenting its annual pops concert here on Tuesday, August 8th: a selection of great film scores by Korngold and other great film composers performed by the festival orchestra with the actual films projected on a screen above the orchestra. It should be a lot of fun!

This lovely planter was a gift from our dear friend Anna Schaum who retired from the orchestra at the end of the 2005-2006 season to pursue a private counselling practice. There were a variety of plants growing in it when she gave it to us, and we thought they’d all died over the winter. But, as nature has a habit of doing, we were fooled, and there were some lovely new plants sprouting this spring - here we are treated to some lovely foliage - what a nice surprise!
