Happy New Year! Today was a very low-key day, after the New Year’s Eve celebrating Heather and I took part in as part of Pink Martini’s festivities at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall last night. Given that string players are most likely to complain about what they perceive as bad rehearsal technique on the part of a conductor, how about seeing what happens when they try to do it themselves? Not typical of a string quartet rehearsal, but things start to get unwieldy when you’ve got eight players all of
