fear no piano riot!

The pioneering Portland new music ensemble FearNoMusic will present A Piano Riot!, a concert full of works for multiple grand pianos and percussion, at Kaul Auditorium on the Reed College campus, on Sunday, October 9th at 8 p.m.

The riot in the program title refers to the arrangement of Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring for four pianos and percussion – the Rite famously sparked a riot at its Paris premiere in 1913. Also featured, works by South African composer Sean Naidoo and Polish composer Witold Lutoslawski. The performers include pianists Harold Gray, Susan Smith, Denise VanLeuven and Jeff Payne, as well as guest conductor David Hattner.
