on the cusp of a new season

A week from tomorrow my fifteenth season with the Oregon Symphony begins.  I wrote a post last winter about the concerts that I was most looking forward to in this coming year, and since then there have been some noteworthy additions to the concert calendar.  Here they are

Rufus Wainwright

Classical Rufus – this is a co-production with the T:BA Festival, and should be one of the more interesting concerts of the season. September 9, 2010 – info/tickets.

Thomas Lauderdale

Countdown to Carnegie – a gala fundraiser to send the orchestra to Carnegie Hall in May 2012.  The money to get us there is in place, now we just need to get back!  Thomas Lauderdale, Darcelle XV, Storm Large, and Matthew & Michael Dickman perform with the orchestra – September 18, 2010 – info/tickets.

Hallowe’en with Psycho – this movie scared the living bejesus out of me when I was a kid, and now I get to return the favor with the concert featuring the full orchestra playing the original Bernard Hermann score with the full projected film. – October 31, 2010 – info/tickets.
