Myself, Heather Blackburn, and Marty Jennings in Southern Oregon in March, 2001.
Today marks the sixth anniversary of the death of violinist Marty Jennings. He was 32 years old. Marty and I shared the love of three major obsessions in our lives: music, coffee, and cycling. Often I’m out on a ride and I wish that I could tell Marty about what I have seen or done. Or about a spectacular shot of espresso I’ve had. Or why Beethoven really is a great composer, even though Marty didn’t like his music all that much. I’m glad that his legacy lives on in his children, his lovely daughter Taylor, and Simon Danger Jennings (yes, Danger is his middle name!). I can’t believe that it’s been five years, in some ways it seems like just yesterday, in other like it’s been a lifetime.
