when time off isn’t, really

Wow, time is flying by!  I was just getting my music together for upcoming non-OSO performances, and realized that a quartet concert with the Rovetti Quartet in Astoria’s Liberty Theater is taking place very soon – March 1st.  As they say in the old country – holy crap!

It’ll be a great concert to play, since it will reunite me with former Ethos violinist Denise Dillenbeck (née Huizenga), as well as her good friend, Philadelphia Orchestra violinist Marc Rovetti, and OSO principal cellist Nancy Ives.  Plus, it’s repertoire that I either have wanted to do for a long time (Beethoven Op. 18 no. 5 in A major and Mendelssohn op. 13 in A minor) or is one of my favorite pieces that I’ve already performed before (Shostakovich No. 3 in F major, op. 73).

So, this week, though the symphony is not rehearsing or playing concerts, I’m going to be very busy!

In case you’re interested, concert info is available here, and an all-time great recording of the Mendelssohn can be found here.
