on three, sonata allegro blitz

by Charles Noble on August 1, 2007

A great story from the NY Post about the Jets football team and their use of classical music in training.  Here’s an excerpt:

Pull up a lawn chair, close your eyes and listen: You will hear the soothing strains of Mozart wafting on a warm breeze. For a moment, you feel like you’re on the great lawn at Central Park, listening to a summer concert. Suddenly, the blissful calm is shattered by a spectator’s scream:

“We love you, Chad!”

You’re at Jets training camp.

Instead of blasting hip-hop, rap and hard rock on their sideline speakers at Hofstra, a tradition that began last summer with the arrival of innovative coach Eric Mangini, the Jets have altered their play list, mixing in classical music-namely Mozart-with their old standbys.
