\nComposer Daniel Ott<\/em><\/p>\n

Friend and composer Daniel Ott<\/a>, whose new work for string quartet, solo violin, and piano (\u00c3\u00a1 la Chausson) entitled Blue Water<\/em> is being given its world premiere at the venerable Bargemusic concerts<\/a> in New York City this weekend, deserves a shout-out from this blog.\u00c2\u00a0 Way to go, Dan!<\/p>\n

I’ve had a long association with Dan and his music. He has been the composer-in-residence at the Max Aronoff Viola Institute<\/a> for quite a few years now, and I participated in early performances of his String Quartet<\/em>, an oboe quartet, and the world premiere of a piece for solo viola – Parting<\/em>, at the festival.\u00c2\u00a0 He’s a composer to watch – consistently innovative and original, and with a real (and rare) sense of both emotion and structure that permeates all which he composes.<\/p>\n
