{"id":6901,"date":"2011-09-15T20:12:41","date_gmt":"2011-09-16T03:12:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nobleviola.com\/?p=6901"},"modified":"2013-02-07T20:54:41","modified_gmt":"2013-02-08T04:54:41","slug":"smaller-orchestras-matter-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nobleviola.com\/wordpress\/2011\/09\/15\/smaller-orchestras-matter-more\/","title":{"rendered":"smaller orchestras matter more"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At least that&#8217;s what Bill Eddins <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nobleviola.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/3339\">says in his post<\/a> from Thursday where he talks about how important it is for smaller ensembles to maintain that all-important personal connection with their audience.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>The larger the orchestra the more one can be removed from society in general, mainly because your life is wrapped up in The \u00dcber-Orchestra that you belong to.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>In \u201csmaller\u201d orchestras?\u00a0 The connection between you and your peeps is that much more important.\u00a0 You have a much, much smaller margin for error.\u00a0 If your organization is perceived in the community as being even more elitist than normal you have a huge mountain to climb if you ever get into trouble.\u00a0 In this day and age it is vitaly important that these smaller ensembles work diligently at keeping a personal relationship with the community at large.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This is all in relation to a new video produced by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.poma-gr.org\">Professional Orchestra Musicians of the Grand Rapids Symphony<\/a>.
