As you can see from the photo above, there is a lot of stuff on my plate for the month of September! The Arnica Quartet is playing a concert of music by Daniel Ott and Benjamin Britten – two composers that don’t really set out to write simple music – for our concert at the Community Music Center on September 30th (tickets are available from the Oregon Symphony box office – order by phone or in person – click here<\/a> for more information). And this doesn’t even include the three Oregon Symphony programs that we will be rehearsing during the same period of time. Phew! Though it is a very challenging program, it will also be a very rewarding one, and a good preparation for our cycle of Britten’s music for string quartet that we’ll be mounting in observation of Britten’s centenary celebrations, which will begin in the fall of 2012.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
