I was asked to write notes that were a bit off the beaten path of program notes (which are normally all written for the Oregon Symphony by the excellent Elizabeth Schwartz), and it was fun and interesting to do. The notes are for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nobleviola.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/eventDetail.aspx?p=1580\">October 30-31<\/a> program featuring Karen Gomyo in Beethoven&#8217;s Violin Concerto, Copland&#8217;s brief and nostalgic <em>Letter from Home<\/em>, and Nielsen&#8217;s monumental Fourth Symphony &#8220;Inextinguishable&#8221;. I&#8217;ll be adding some links for the online versions of the notes, so even if you&#8217;re not able to be at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall for the show, you can still enjoy the fruits of my labors.<\/p>\n<p><em>Just a quick update to say that I&#8217;m not writing *all* of the program notes for this year, just three separate concerts scattered across this season.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I just turned in my first set of program notes for the Oregon Symphony!
