MAVI – the shorthand moniker for the Max Aronoff Viola Institute<\/a> – the string camp that I helped co-found 20 years ago with University of Puget Sound viola professor Joyce Ram\u00e9e – is starting this coming Sunday up at Bastyr University, so it’s time for the pre-festival rehearsing to begin as well.\u00a0 Today was the first run of the Bart\u00f3k Concerto with the amazing Dr. Duane Hulbert<\/a> on the piano.\u00a0 It’s going to come together very well, and should be a lot of fun.\u00a0 Tonight brings a rehearsal of the seldom-heard string quintet Op. 18 in B-flat by a young Felix Mendelssohn.\u00a0 I’ve got some work to do on that before I’m ready to go.\u00a0 For now, some errands and grocery shopping, then practice time!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
