{"id":3389,"date":"2009-11-22T23:23:49","date_gmt":"2009-11-23T07:23:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nobleviola.com\/wordpress\/?p=3389"},"modified":"2009-11-22T23:23:49","modified_gmt":"2009-11-23T07:23:49","slug":"the-view-from-here","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nobleviola.com\/wordpress\/2009\/11\/22\/the-view-from-here\/","title":{"rendered":"the view from here"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As promised (but a bit late) here are the photos that show how different my positions on stage are during this weekend&#8217;s concerts.\u00a0 Here is where I normally am (and where I spend the first half of the concert)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.nobleviola.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/IMG_3269.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3390\" style=\"border: 5px solid black;\" title=\"IMG_3269\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.nobleviola.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/IMG_3269-400x533.jpg?resize=240%2C320\" alt=\"IMG_3269\" width=\"240\" height=\"320\" \/><br \/>\n[click photo to enlarge]<\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can see our stand on the left side of the frame, the concertmaster&#8217;s stand right in the center, and the conductor&#8217;s stand (made of fancy wood) on the right side of the frame.<\/p>\n<p>Now here&#8217;s where I sit for the Dutilleux Symphony No. 2:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.nobleviola.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/IMG_3274.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3391\" style=\"border: 5px solid black;\" title=\"IMG_3274\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.nobleviola.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/IMG_3274-400x533.jpg?resize=240%2C320\" alt=\"IMG_3274\" width=\"240\" height=\"320\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n[click photo to enlarge]<\/p>\n<p>Can&#8217;t really see the concertmaster from here, since there are several soloists between me and that stand during the performance.\u00a0 I can see the wind and brass sections, however.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not too helpful to me, though.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, here&#8217;s how the viola section is chopped in half by the solo timpani, which is left in place to make a shorter stage change between the Dutilleux and the Berlioz that closes the program:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.nobleviola.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/IMG_3276.JPG\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3392\" style=\"border: 5px solid black;\" title=\"IMG_3276\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.nobleviola.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/IMG_3276-400x300.jpg?resize=400%2C300\" alt=\"IMG_3276\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>See those lonely four chairs in the very back &#8211;
