{"id":3264,"date":"2009-10-15T08:32:09","date_gmt":"2009-10-15T15:32:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nobleviola.com\/wordpress\/?p=3264"},"modified":"2013-02-07T19:57:59","modified_gmt":"2013-02-08T03:57:59","slug":"heat-up-cool-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nobleviola.com\/wordpress\/2009\/10\/15\/heat-up-cool-down\/","title":{"rendered":"heat up, cool down"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is the time of year where a curious shift happens: the classical music season heats up, while the weather outside cools down. \u00a0This post in just going to be a hodge-podge of random thoughts, truly full of daily observations, rather than what is usually posted here (not sure what that means, anyway). \u00a0So, let&#8217;s get to it, shall we?<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been noticing that the <em>Violin Concerto<\/em> of Benjamin Britten has been getting really popular with the new generation of soloists this season. \u00a0We&#8217;re presenting the work in the capable hands of Finnish violinist Elina Vahala on our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nobleviola.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/EventDetail.aspx?p=1016\">last classical concert of the season<\/a> (as an Oregon Symphony premiere) along with Mahler&#8217;s &#8220;Titan&#8221; Symphony No. 1. \u00a0A couple of very good recordings have come out over the last few months as well. \u00a0Here&#8217;s a listing of what I&#8217;ve discovered thus far:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Daniel Hope, violin; BBC Symphony Orchestra\/Watkins &#8211; Britten &amp; Berg Violin Concertos (Warner Classics)<\/li>\n<li>Janine Jansen, violin; Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen\/P.
