Photo: Courtney Perry<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nobleviola.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/www.thedailybeast.com\">Daily Beast<\/a> has an article about the current crop of young conductors who are either making it big or, in their opinion, are about to (the headline screams: Young Rock Stars of the Conducting World&#8221;).\u00a0 Some of these conductors have been here in Oregon, and with a couple of exceptions, they were all quite good.\u00a0 We haven&#8217;t seen any of these women here in Oregon, and it would be nice to have a few female conductors here &#8211; but for some reason the &#8220;buzz&#8221; on the women that most critics are hot on is not getting to our front office.\u00a0 Click <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nobleviola.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/full\" target=\"_blank\">here for the article and photos of the chosen ones<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve heard some very good things about another female conductor, the Minnesota Orchestra&#8217;s staff conductor, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nobleviola.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/artist_detail.cfm?id_artist=53189603\">Sarah Hicks<\/a>, as well.\u00a0 And I&#8217;d be comfortable adding our own Resident Conductor Gregory Vajda to this list as well.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s hoping we see some of these young talents on our podium in the years to come.<\/p>\n<p>And here&#8217;s the list for those of you with little time to spare (*= has appeared or will appear with the OSO):<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Gustavo Dudamel<\/li>\n<li>Marc Albrecht<\/li>\n<li>Alondra de la Parra<\/li>\n<li>Kazem Abdullah*<\/li>\n<li>James Gaffigan*<\/li>\n<li>Pietari Inkinen* &#8211; will appear with the OSO <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nobleviola.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/EventDetail.aspx?p=968\" target=\"_blank\">Feb. 2010<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Edward Gardner<\/li>\n<li>Michael Christie*<\/li>\n<li>Joana Carniero<\/li>\n<li>Michael Francis<\/li>\n<li>Evan Rogister<\/li>\n<li>Shi-Yeong Sun<\/li>\n<li>Phillipe Jordan<\/li>\n<li>Ilyich Rivas &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nobleviola.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/ilyich-rivas-16ilyich-rivas-16-conducts-110329.html\" target=\"_blank\">profile<\/a> in Atlanta paper<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>It&#8217;s also worth noting, which the Daily Beast did not do, that all of these conductors &#8211; with the exceptions of Dudamel and Abdullah &#8211; have the same representation, with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nobleviola.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/?page=conductors\">IMG Artists<\/a>.\u00a0 It&#8217;s curious, since there are quite a few conductors of similar or greater promise that are represented by other agencies.\u00a0 I&#8217;m hoping, in light of the high journalistic standards to which the Daily Beast aspires, that this was not simply a puff piece instigated by the marketing wing of IMG.\u00a0 Check out the comments below to see another mistake &#8211;
