Drew McManus, the brainchild behind the Adaptistration<\/a> empire, has recently released compensation reports of many kinds \u00e2\u20ac\u201c a valuable service to the industry \u00e2\u20ac\u201c the two that most interest me being the salaries for ICSOM concertmasters<\/a> and music directors<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I’ll cut to the chase, since you and I both want to know who is the highest paid in each category, drum roll please!<\/p>\n

Concertmaster: Bill Preucil, Cleveland Orchestra: $478,000 (up nearly 21% from last year!)<\/p>\n

Music Director: Lorin Maazel, New York Philharmonic: $2,834,745 (gulp!)<\/p>\n

I’m in the wrong segment of the orchestra business, I guess…<\/p>\n
