{"id":2249,"date":"2009-03-25T06:00:02","date_gmt":"2009-03-25T13:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nobleviola.com\/wordpress\/?p=2249"},"modified":"2013-02-07T19:36:00","modified_gmt":"2013-02-08T03:36:00","slug":"financial-woes-in-cleveland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nobleviola.com\/wordpress\/2009\/03\/25\/financial-woes-in-cleveland\/","title":{"rendered":"financial woes in cleveland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Now, another Big Five orchestra is facing some serious belt-tightening, this time the Cleveland Orchestra (on the heels of the Philadelphia Orchestra):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Cleveland Orchestra said Tuesday it plans a series of &#8220;broad and deep&#8221; cuts in response to the financial crisis, another sign that not even great cultural institutions are immune from economic woe.<\/p>\n<p>So serious is the orchestra&#8217;s position, in fact, that music director Franz Welser-Most and executive director Gary Hanson volunteered to take pay cuts of 20 percent and 15 percent, respectively, reductions amounting to over $300,000.
