I bought a new ultra-compact camera last week, and thought it might be nice to bring it to work last night to give a behind-the-scenes look at the goings on before and after an Oregon Symphony performance.\u00c2\u00a0 So, without further ado…<\/p>\n

\nHere’s the viola nook – the area behind and to the left of stage left.\u00c2\u00a0 We place our instrument cases on the black shelves you see on the right.\u00c2\u00a0 The railing in the lower right corner is the stairway that leads up to the dressing rooms and down to the musician’s lounge area. \nThis is the subterranean musicians’ lounge, which has no windows, fluorescent lighting, and poor ventilation.\u00c2\u00a0 It does, however, have a nice television, a 25 year old microwave, noisy vending machines, and snazzy new sofas! [click photo to enlarge]<\/p>\n

\nThis is the stage left fly rail (on the left) and on the right is the back of the shell that you see behind the double basses.\u00c2\u00a0 The fly rail is where various pieces of stage paraphernalia is hoisted into position. [click photo to enlarge]<\/p>\n

\nHere’s a typical musician’s locker.\u00c2\u00a0 This person commutes to work on a bicycle, so there are extra items on top of the locker as well. [click photo to enlarge]<\/p>\n
