On Friday, February 3<\/a>, 2006<\/a>, Nye was married to Blair Tindall<\/a>.[4]<\/a><\/sup> Tindall and Nye had been engaged for five months. The pair exchanged watches instead of rings “as a symbol,” Nye explained, “of man\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s reckoning with time”.[5]<\/a><\/sup> Tindall is the author of Mozart in the Jungle<\/a><\/em> and she is a former concert oboist<\/a>. The two exchanged vows at Richard Saul Wurman<\/a>\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s The Entertainment Gathering<\/a> 2006 conference where Nye spoke. They were married by the Rev. Rick Warren<\/a>, pastor and author of The Purpose Driven Life<\/a><\/em>. Cellist Yo-Yo Ma<\/a>, accompanied by MIT<\/a> Media Lab professor Michael Hawley<\/a> on the piano, performed a wedding march<\/a>. The engagement was announced by Nye, while appearing on the December 19<\/a>, 2005<\/a> episode of talk show The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

Bill Nye and Blair Tindall ended their marriage seven weeks after the conference ceremony. An invalid marriage license and “too much too soon” were cited as the reasons for the split.
