I’m hard at work getting Classical Currents ready to go live, but in the meantime, here is an example of the initial content you can expect to find there. Here’s a list of upcoming live streams that you might enjoy.

Some events are free, or require registration, and some require paid admission. Click the links for further information.

  • Fridays with 45th Parallel: Live stream – Chiaroscuro: James Shields, Emily Cole, Trevor Fitzpatrick, and Maria Garcia perform music of Louise Farrenc and Andy Akiho. Friday 12/4 at 6pm PST. Patreon subscribers get access to a post-concert Zoom Q&A. [Archived]
  • Portland Chamber Orchestra: Live stream – Songs for Lucia: Rose City Brass Trio performs live from Nordia House. Saturday 12/5 at 7pm PST.
  • Chamber Music Northwest: Live stream – Marc-André Hamelin & Gloria Chien: Virtuoso Pianos, including Stravinski’s own arrangement of his Rite of Spring. Saturday 12/5 at 7pm PST.
  • Friends of Chamber Music (Portland): Virtual concert – Soprano Sarah Shafer with pianist Richard Goode – Sunday 12/6 at 3pm PST. Pre-concert talk with Theresa Koon at 2:30pm PST.
  • Magical Strings Holiday Concert: Live stream – Celtic music for stringed instruments by the Boulding family. Sunday 12/6 at 3pm PST.
  • International Contemporary Ensemble: Live stream – Tuesdays@7 Kyle Armbrust, Jacob Greenberg, Daniel Lippel, and Wendy Richman present an evening featuring works originally written for them. Tuesday 12/8 at 4pm PST.
