		<description>Sadly, this is the justification I hear a lot of people use for why they copy/download illegally CDs -- because the artists aren&#039;t getting the money anyway.

However, as you point out, many artists are building private labels, records are being produced independently, etc -- scenarios where the artists can actually make money.

But, I think that the average consumer assumes that all music is made with the model described in the article.  The reality is that most of the music you&#039;ll see locally, isn&#039;t!</description>
